Help us help children aspire
Our county has a huge and enviable reputation for excellence in the arts. It drove determination, aspiration and achievement to dizzy heights.
We all want our children to succeed. we want to provide them with the inspiration they need to fulfill their potential. Everyone has talent but often a lack of encouragement to draw it out. It may be for want of a musical instrument, or media for an artist, or special tuition for any of the arts to draw out this excellence.
The government has vouched a contribution towards basic levels of achievement in the arts, excellence however needs further endeavour and often at a cost beyond this contribution. Once standards have been reached parents and outside funding is often needed.
A real life example: "The applause had hardly finished as the choir trouped off the stage, followed by a very proud looking teacher. Six weeks really hard work three times a week, and not one absentee". Enthusiasm, pride and a sense of achievement is a wonderful platform for learning. There is no doubt, and we all know, that congratulation helps build confidence and self-esteem. When children can stand tall and look an audience in the eye, it helps project the very self-belief necessary for achieving in later life.
